So, today was pretty cool. Of course, most of it was sitting around and waiting, but it culminated into having an HD-DVR (an HR21-700 from DirecTV) and a bunch more HD channels. It turned out that I didn’t need a new dish. I did, indeed, have a 5-LNB dish. The receiver, however, was misconfigured such that it thought I had a 3-LNB dish. I could’ve had SciFi in HD all this time!! Grrrrr!! Ahhh, well…the HD-DVR was worth it. I did my first recording tonight…just to test things out, to see if it would all work prim and proper, I recorded the Supersized Mythbusters this evening on Discovery…in HD!! 😀 Anyhoo, looks like it came out nicely. I’m recording a couple of Twilight Zones late tonight, too.

Anyhoo, after all that junk was over with, I went to join Ruthie and Crystal for some ice skating…it was my 5th time ever on the ice. It didn’t take too terribly long to get used to things again–especially after tightening my skates. The big problem I have is that my feet tend to want to bow outward or inward. I have no stability or balance yet to keep the skates perpendicular to the ice. It did get better, though, when I tightened them. I fell once on my booty…and then came the big boom. I did a belly flop on the ice that took the wind out of me something fierce. I skinned my left elbow pretty bad, but was still relatively unscathed. Still, that was the end of the night for me. I did get a good hour and a half in, though, and it was absolutely smashing 🙂

My website is coming along nicely on my new Linux server. I have my LJ RSS feed printing out to it, and I’ll soon make a new photo gallery live–it’s run on my own server. It’s an Open Source job called Gallery. It’s very awesome, quite customizable. I think I’m just too lazy to rebuild a PHP one from my ASP one. lol. Keith did sort of the same thing on The Ninja…he’s now using WordPress, which is actually looking pretty good…he’s even updating his site without bringing it to it’s knees 🙂

Anyhoo, yes…definitely bed time *ZzzZZzzZZZZ!!!!*

So, it really kinda sucked. I wasn’t able to complete an installation of the full desktop version. I was, however, able to install a command-line version. Right now, the server is exclusively console, but it is up and running. w00 h00!! I’m actually manually installing Gnome as I type using apt, so we’ll see how that goes. My webserver, however, is now up and running Apache 2.2.4/PHP 5.2.3 😀

Tonight a new era begins…I’m tearing down my web server and rebuilding a Linux one…and the peasants rejoiced. I’m pondering…but, just pondering…moving my blog over to it. LJ does have the advantage, though, of all friends pages all in one place. Anyhoo, that’s just a pondering–nothing concrete with that one for now…I’m going to be redesigning my site, as it is. I’m sure that I can link over to LJ as I always have…except now it’ll be PHP instead of ASP 😀

It has been a good evening 😀 Ruthie and I went to Outback to have some dead cow. It was legendary, although my steak was overcooked from what I asked. Nevertheless, it was quite yummy.

Right after work, I popped by Best Buy and got The Simpsons Game. It is absolutely awesome! It is tons better than the demo that I downloaded off of XBL. It has a better plot…it has a plot. It is more a platform game than anything, thus far. But, that’s cool–it has that Tomb Raider quality of where you have to flip switches and push buttons to activate things and open things up and progress through the game. Very good schtuff 😀

Ruthie and I played a bit of that in co-op whilst we handed out candy to the kiddos–ironically enough, dressed as Homer and Marge 😀 I should’ve taken pictures. D’OH!!!

I’m tired…I usually make it a point to read some Edgar Allan Poe on Halloween Eve, but I am dead tired. Although, I guess there’s no harm in falling asleep to it–though, I’m sure that might bring about some interesting dreams…perhaps I’ll read some of his poetry as opposed to a longer story.
