Watching this show called Robot Chicken on [adult swim].. DEFINITELY a must see 🙂 Frelling hilarious.
*busts out the bathing suit, but keeps the parka just in case*
It’s been so frelling nice around here the past couple of days 🙂 It’s been in the 60s and quite sunny. Very nice weekend, all around.
I’ve started playing guitar 🙂 So far, I can play the C, F & G chords if I think about where my fingers are. F is definitely a killer–it’s hard to keep one finger firmly on two strings. The guy from whom I’m borrowing a guitar said I need to build up strength in my hands/fingers to be able to consistently hit chords, especially the F. That and I need to memorize how to get to them. This is definitely going to rock 🙂 I’ll record my first song and post it whenever I have it. But, that might be a while. Stay tuned.
Other than that, it’s been a quiet weekend. I had a bit of a tummy ache last night, but I think it was just that naughty Whopper that I ate–pure poison, of course, but it’s way too yummy 🙂 lol.
I finally sent off the Belle stuff I got from Disney World for Cristine. It sure took me frakking long enough; It must’ve been the uber nice weekend that breathed the initiative into me. Talk about being slothy 😉 It seems that spring is waking me up, once again. hehe.
The Rant
Interesting how things like books can get banned because of offensive words. Freedom of Speech goes only so far, I guess *shrugs* I hate how any book gets banned at all. Perhaps we should amend Amendment I so that it looks like:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, so long as the above offends no one.
Mind you, we’re not talking about Congress making a law against freedom of speech or press, but people apply the first amendment in general public policy every day. They apply it for grievences about school prayer, certain books (e.g. mwshook pointed out that Mark Twain occupies many banned book lists because of certain offensive language), or perhaps even protests or petitions all because certain people (whether a majority or not) find any or all of them offensive in some way, shape or form.
This country works best when someone is offended; it sparks debate, which usually leads to a consensus. It’s very bad, however, when that consensus leads to the squashing of someone’s freedom to express themselves, just because it may offend the few.

A Title of No Special Magnificence
I’m watching Enterprise right now. This episode (along with the previous) helps to explain why Klingons in the original series look nothing like the Klingons in the movies/tv shows from Star Trek: The Motion Picture to the end of Voyager. They explain it rather craftily, I think, and tie it in well to general inuendo in DS9. It’s a pretty good set of episodes. This season has really seen the show come along quite nicely; I’m going to be sad to see it go. Thank goodness for SciFi Friday 🙂
I went to a LAN on Saturday. It was quite uber kewl; we played Halo PC most of the time, and also played a bit of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. I even snuck in a little World of Warcraft in here and there in-between. I’m up to level 13.. At this rate, I’ll be at or around Level 40 in May. Not bad, I guess. I saw Matt Weber since the first time the wedding; he says married life is very much the same as single–but, then again, he was living with Carynn for quite a while. We had it at Meacham’s pad. I need to get a house so I can be kewl and host uber LANs 🙂
It looks like it’s going to rain most of the night :\ I hope the rest of the week won’t be as dreary.

*YAWN*
Well, nothing much to report from the front; it’s been a fine weekend of resting and slacking 🙂 I finally got to level 10 in World of Warcraft. I think I like taking it slow; if I go on a quest per night or so, I won’t burn out. That and about an hour a night won’t hurt; I won’t suffer from EQ-type addiction–or at least I hope not 🙂
I need to get the front turnsignal on my car replaced; I have been a bit too slackful this weekend 😉 Thankfully, I’m off tomorrow so perhaps I shall get off my booty and get it done.
Battlestar Galactica is really kicking some major arse. In many ways, I think it is very much superior to the original. The character dynamics flow a little more naturally than the original, perhaps because there’s a lot more you can get away with on cable. Adding Cylons into crew certainly makes things quite interesting, as well.
Dang, I’m such a geek 😉
I’d like to give a shout out to Val, whom I hope is having a very
Happy Birthday
Lousy Frelling Government
Yep, I’m a little miffed. I owe this year. But, thankfully, it’s not that much at all; only a fraction of a paycheck amounting to only about $10/mo. That’s not too bad, I guess. But, it sucks in any case. The state of Alabama also owes me $2. I’d better not spend it all in one frelling place.
In other news, I went out with Carrie again on Friday nite. We did dinner at Chili’s and saw Sideways, which has apparently been nominated for a few Oscars. It was a pretty funny movie about these two guys to tour the wine country in California. It didn’t really star any big names, which was perhaps one of its strengths. The plot was very rich, and definitely quite humorous. If you haven’t seen it yet, shame on you.
Anyhoo, I’m taking her out to dinner again on Monday for V-Day. I’m not entirely sure where yet, but I have a few ideas. I guess I’d better hurry and make up my mind since tomorrow be the day *GASPs and runs around in panic*
So I was listening to “Ramble On” by Led Zepp today, and I noticed that there is a Lord of the Rings reference in it. I have heard the songs many times over the years, but never really noticed it:
Mine’s a tale that can’t be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T’was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her….yeah.
This was just one of those songs where i knew how to hum/whistle the melody, but I never really knew the lyrics. Very interesting.
The Cubbies report to spring training in about 2 days. w00t!! It’ll be awesome to see them take the field again; there are going to be two new broadcasters on WGN, so they’re going to have a bit of a new face. Instead of buying a season pass to listen to internet streamed games, I was pondering getting XM radio. I’d be able to hear every Cubs game, and I’d also be able to listen to radio stations across country.
