So, Ruthie and I go with the Realtor tonight to the house for the final walkthrough. The people haven’t even frickin’ moved out yet. It looks like things are packed in boxes, the furniture is mostly still out in their original places, but there’s a U-Haul truck out front. Basically, it looked like they had to load up the truck. But, damn. Closing is tomorrow morning at 9…or it’s supposed to be *fumes*

If they do clear out by tomorrow morning, they’re going to have to be working all night at it.

Tomorrow morning will therefore be the final final walkthrough at about 7:30. Closing is at 9. I am not a happy camper 😛

Another weekend, another LAN. It wasn’t too frickin’ bad, except for the heat. Even in air conditioning, it’s pretty stinkin’ hot…especially when you have a bunch of geeks clustered around hot computers all day and night. It seems that we’ve gotten to the hotter point of the summer already. It’s 97 today, with a helluva lot of humidity. I need a swim 😛

Cubs won last night. Normally, I wouldn’t be so excited about a Cubs victory, except that they seem to be losing so much this season *le sigh* Poor Cubbies.

I’ve named the kitten Wrigley. He and Penny seem to be getting along a good bit better nowadays. They were horsing around with each other this morning, tackling each other like mad. I think that they’ll be smashing together. I’ll probably bring him in to the vet this week for a check-up and shots that I know he’ll need.

Closing is going to be on the 28th, less than two from weeks now. I need to do some major cleanup around my place this week. I’m not really concerned about getting the security deposit back from the apartment, because I’ve heard people have really gotten screwed royally by them. I have a feeling that even if I got the place spotless by professionals, they’d probably find some reason not to give me the deposit. I pretty much count those deposits as black-holish as rent itself.

So, cleanup will be getting rid of stuff I haven’t used in a long time. I’ll probably start packing up little stuff like books and all that good stuff.

Crazy stuff has been going on in the Middle East of-late. Israel has been pounding the hell out of Hezbollah in Lebanon. Potentially scary stuff, that’s for sure. I have a feeling we’re in store for more violence than any of us here in the States could ever imagine. I hope I’m wrong.

Discovery comes back tomorrow. I wish the crew well and hope they get home safe.

I’m watching Field of Dreams for the first time in years. It’s a helluva tear-jerker at the end.

On a brighter note, here’re some more house pics, for those who might be interested. I went through it again today with the parents.

Enough pictures to make ya sick

So, I got a new kitten tonight. He’s about 7 or 8 weeks old–not sure exactly how old, but I’m sure a trip to the vet will probably determine fairly closely.

The friends who gave him to me called him Ewok-face, because of his poofy face. So, I was pondering calling him Wicket, for obvious Star Wars-type reasons.

I put up the question to all of you…What should his name be? The pic is pretty grainy, because I took it on my phone. I’ll find my camera when I’m not so tired and take a nice high-res photo of his mug.

So, I have been in Chicago & Milwaukee for the past week. It was a very awesome, relaxing and eventful trip. It was quite kewl, seeing the bro and more of the place where he lives.

Milwaukee is a smaller town that I would’ve figured–we had a bit of time to drive around downtown when we were looking for a local pizza eatery. We never found it, but did have a nice lil cruise through the city.

Chicago was as Chicago as always. We went to the Field Museum, MSI, and the Adler Planetarium. Good stuff. We stayed at the Congress Plaza Hotel on Michigan Ave. Very nice place. From when it was built in 1893 up through the FDR Administration, presidents stayed there whenever they went to Chitown.

We saw a Cubbie game, and actually saw them win one *GASP* They won 7-2 in a pretty decisive game that was started by Carlos Zambrano. They have this little thing at Miller Park called “Take Back Miller Park”. Cubs and Cardinals fans come up to Milwaukee in droves, because of the proximity. That means that the number of Cubs or Cards fans rival those of Brewer fans. I don’t think their little campaign was worth the t-shirts they were printed on, though, because there were a heckuva lot of Cubs fans at the game we went to.

We went to the Miller brewery. That was quite the fascinating lil trip. I really don’t drink beer, but it was really kewl seeing how it is made. I even had some at the end of the tour, when they dished out free samples. I’m not entirely sure what it was, but it was dark. I know it wasn’t MGD or Lite.

Good times, good times.
