So, I’ve been chillin most of the weekend. Literally. I wasn’t feelin’ all that well on Friday, which fortunately turned out to be the peak of my bad feeling. Congestion really ruined my sleep on Thursday night, as it usually does. It doesn’t seem as though anything serious is going down.

I saw Serenity this week. It really was an awesome movie; I still haven’t seen all of Firefly yet, and now I’m definitely motivated to finish it. Before that, I saw Corpse Bride. Stylistically, it reminded me a bit of The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was an entertaining movie, but I felt like I had seen it already–in every other Burton film that came before it.

I forgot why I even left World of Warcraft. Oh, yea.. The $14.99/mo. Well, in the end, I think that the $14.99 is worth it; it’s a very awesome game and it has so much more in comparison to Guild Wars. Guild Wars might be a good one to revisit one day, though.

The White Sox are on the verge of winning the ALCS. I don’t necessarily have my hopes up, because we all remember what happened in 2003. Blah. I do hope that they make it, though. Maybe it’ll make up for 1917 in some way.

There’s a lunar eclipse on the 17th (tomorrow). I think that, being in Central Time, I won’t be able to see all that much of it. People out west will be able to see it, though–or else they can sleep in like wussies 😛

So I had a really odd dream last night. I don’t know how I got there, but I was in Iraq. I wasn’t entrenched in battle with terrorists or anything, but it seemed like I just got there. I was at the Baghdad Airport. In the dream, I think I mistakenly took that as part of the Green Zone. Of course, I think that the Green Zone encompasses the general area around government buildings and doesn’t even come close to encompassing the airport.

Anyway, I was riding with someone in a Hummer (a real one, not the yuppie gas guzzler). We rode past some airplanes, civilian and military. The airport seemed as if it was bustling with activity of both. I think I found it perplexing that I was there because I asked what my rank was..

..but just before he could answer, the clock radio went off. Blah.

So, I got an iBook late last week; I traded in the Athlon 64 laptop and my old iBook G3 for an iBook G4. There’s just something about the Mac that’s cool–plus it’s really unique.. Oh, and plus it’s a *nix platform (w00t!!). Anyhoo, this iBook is basically 2x the first iBook that I had. There’re so many more things this lil bugger can do. In the end, I think Mac OS X is better than Linux because of its wider support for hardware–obviously, since hardware varies little from Apple-to-Apple. If there’s a viable alternative to Windows out there, I think it’s more Mac OS than anything. Anyhoo, this thing plays UT2004 and World of Warcraft like a dream, even compared to the Athlon 64.

So, yea. I’ve gotten back into World of Warcraft again. Ruthie is probably going to join me, along with garibaldicu later next month. We’ll more than likely be on Kel’Thuzad, and I’m sure I might continue my character on Feathermoon. Anyhoo, like I said, this little iBook handles WoW quite well–almost as well as my desktop which, ironically enough, has 4x the VRAM.

This weekend was chocked full of moving. My brother is now settled in a new apartment in Milwaukee. I forgot to bring my camera up there, so I have no pics of it *le sigh* I will have to certainly get some at a later date. It’s a really nice one. It’s your typical apartment for up there; an older one, so it has no central heating system. So, it has a radiator attached to the wall, just above the floorboards. It also has an airconditioner in the window. Hopefully, it won’t get too torturous for him in the summer and stuff. His job at WISN is going quite smashing, as well 🙂 He’s certainly enjoying it more than that crappy ass Cumulus. Note: If ever you want a radio job, do not, under any circumstance, take one with Cumulus radio. They stink 😛

TGS!! (in color. w00t!)

So, Chicago might actually make it to the World Series 🙂

I’m in Elizabethtown, KY right now. We’re on the way back to Milwaukee to drop off the rest of Keith’s stuff. SO tired :-\ Off to sleep. Go Sox.

So, I’m pondering starting up WoW again. After playing Guild Wars for a while, it just doesn’t hold the same awesomeness that World of Warcraft does. There’s a reason that it’s $14.99 a month, and that’s probably because of the greater infrastructure. I’ll ponder a little more. Until then, I can be even more impatient for the release of Oblivion. hehe.

Penny started nursing on me this morning *GASP* She hasn’t done that in about a year. She doesn’t sit on my lap much, because she never usually settles down long enough to. So, that was quite strange in itself. She is definitely one confused little feline.

It’s been really nice around here. Right now it’s 64 awesome degrees. It’s time to start running & biking hardcore again 🙂 I have been slacking a bit, because of that oppressive Alabama heat.

Well, this could only happen in Decatur. Lousy stinkin’ South *kicks ignorant South* After having lived in Decatur, I can attest to its backward way. As Catholics (and “Yankee” ones, at that), my family I had to endure a hell of a lot of crap in a town chocked full of rather close-minded and ignorant deep South protestants. I have nothing against them, and I daresay that just about every Catholic in Decatur has no problem co-existing with protestants–which can get strained when crap like this happens. Nevertheless, that sentiment certainly wasn’t returned. UGH! *kicks ignorant South again, for good measure*

In happier news.. Has anyone seen Serenity yet? 🙂

Well, not quite yet. But, my dad and I have driven my bro up to Milwaukee. It’s a really nice town and, after breezing through it, it seems a lot like Denver. The hotel they have him booked at is pretty nice–it’s one of those Extended Stay places.

The trip up here was fairly uneventful. It was definitely a very nice couple of days to drive. I don’t know if there was a cloud in the sky on the way up. The only downside was that we stayed at a Motel 6 near Indianapolis that was quite loud. I never liked motels, because they always project outside sound in just the right bad way. We heard people & motorcycles for most of the night. Ironically, when we left at about 7am, the place was quiet as a tomb.

We stopped off at Miller Park, and ate at TGIFriday’s Front Row in the park. It’s a really nice park. It reminds me a lot of Bank One Ballpark where the Diamondbacks play.

Anyhoo, off to sleep. Leaving at 4am in the morning, so that we can get back to Bama at a decent hour tomorrow.

This weekend was so uberly relaxing that the degree of relax should be illegal in most states. It was definitely a really nice one.

Ruthie and I went to her very smashing hometown of Louisville. It’s a pretty kickin’ lil city, for sure. Before this past weekend, I had only been through there on I-65 on the way to Chicago. As far as cities go, I guess it’s about the size of Denver.

On Friday, we got there. I took the day off, and we spent the morning & afternoon on the road. It was quite the pleasant trip. There wasn’t any rain to speak of, and traffic was fairly light. I have definitely seen worse. When we arrived in Louisville, we stopped off at the very spiffy B & B at which we were staying for the weekend. It was a really nice one, although it was my first B & B experience. It’s just like a hotel, only it’s in a house in your average & typical neighborhood.

That night, we had dinner on the river on a riverboat. It was a nice southern meal of fried chicken, green beans & potatoes. I really liked, of course, being the chicken aficionado that I am 🙂 Both her parents were there and made very awesome company for the meal and the little cruise.

Saturday was quite busy. We started out at the zoo, where we saw the lorikeets, an albino alligator, a polar bear and a bunch of monkeys. The lorikeets were quite content on resting on my head. After the zoo, we hit Six Flags. It was amazing, because the lines were infinitely shorter than those of Six Flags in Georgia. The coolest ride, besides all of the roller coasters, was the sky coaster. I think it’s probably the best $30 that one could ever spend, and I recommend it to anyone. Quite the thrill ride. There was a Stargate ride there, too, that was a bit cheesy. It was good to see some of that at Six Flags, though, despite the cheese.

That night, we had dinner at Le Relais at the airfield, a French restaurant. It began with a very awesome appetizer of cheesy-type bread that tasted a lot like Goldfish crackers. The appetizers continued twice thereafter until we finally got to the main course of steak. It had to have been the greatest steak I have ever tasted. It was a perfect medium rare. After the main course, we adjourned to the patio where there was a balloon glow happening on the airfield. It was amazingly kewl. It was something I hadn’t seen since I was about 11 years old.

After the balloon glow, we went on a flight in a Piper around the city. It was definitely quite the shiznit. It has inspired me to start ground school in the spring, and perhaps get my pilot’s license by the end of next summer. It’ll be a good way to ease myself into grad school, too, since UAH gives ground school classes. Of course, after I get that, I might be tempted to do some more adventurous things, like get scuba certification 😀

All-in-all, it was an extremely wonderful weekend. Her hometown is awesome, and I can’t wait to visit it again–there’ll be plenty of other things to do the next time we’re there. It makes me realize how boring Huntsville can be sometimes. Most of the time, it’s alright. It’s definitely no Chicago, by any stretch of the imagination.

I found out, too, that my brother got his first real job in Milwaukee. He is going to be starting next Monday, so this weekend will be spent moving him up there into a hotel room. The next week, we’ll go back up there to help move him into an apartment–hopefully he’ll have found one by then. I’m definitely going to miss him, but I know that he’ll be a helluva lot more happy there than here. Cumulus really does treat him like crap, and it’ll be good for him to get some experience before getting his dream job at WGN radio. Anyhoo, if anyone listens to internet radio much, he’ll be on WISN doing the morning show (5:30-8:30). He’s a producer, but they’ve said he’ll definitely get airtime.
