Fishes
So, Ruthie and I headed out to Atlanta this weekend to check out the aquarium with the bro. It actually started out as a possible trip to Six Flags, but ended up being full of fish since it had rained all weekend. That’s quite the kewl aquarium out there. I do agree with Ruthie, though, that the one in Chattanooga is better laid out.
T’was certainly quite spiffy, seeing the bro again, too. We headed to a Fuddruckers out there, just off of I-75. It was about time I had some Fuddruckers burgers. They be good stuff. After all of the aquarium stuff, we went back to his place and watched some Galactica specials that were on SciFi and also saw the Cubs finish their last spring training game–Kerry Wood got the save against the Mariners.
We didn’t see all that much, in terms of tornado damage downtown. I did see the boarded up windows of the CNN building, and a few other buildings downtown.
Friday night, Ruthie and I went to Connor’s. I had quite the smashing New York Strip, and Ruthie had a grilled chicken salad. Their prime was $45!! Talk about highway robbery. Of course, I got the regular. I was quite full afterwards, tight as a drum. They have decent steak, but I think I actually like Outback more. They have better seasoning, I think.
Happy Birthday!!
To docjeed, of course!
Weekend Goodness
T’was, indeed, a fine one. There was a bit of a 360 LAN yesterday, though not for the whole day…hopefully, a longer one will be in a couple of weeks or so. I accompanied Ruthie on 3 of her 18 miles after the mini-LAN…just walking, of course. But, it was a nice lil walk around the ol’ college campus.
We went to Easter Vigil. It was a whopping 2hrs 45min. Needless to say, I was quite tired afterwards 😀 It was a pretty cool Vigil…there were 9 people baptized and about 45 in all doing the RCIA thing this year. It was a very nice Mass. I’m glad we didn’t go today, though…from the looks of it, the 9 and 11:30 Masses were overflowing. Parking would’ve been worse than purgatory.
I switched to DSL today. I upgraded my plan right away so that I could have a static IP…it’ll be a headache, if I have to change the Host records every time the IP changes. Plus, 3Mb is better than 1.5. One day I might go for the full 6. But, 3 is about what I got with cable on-average…and probably about 1.5 during prime-time…I think it’ll be good to have a dedicated line, though. And, it’ll still be cheaper than cable. I do hope they get to upgrading by tomorrow. When I placed the order, they said Tuesday. Anyhoo, it turns out that running cable in a house isn’t too terribly bad…I may have to take some RJ-45 sometime soon and wire up all the rooms for network connectivity. hehe.
I finally watched Lost yesterday, too. Very good end to the first stretch of the season. The next half is in about a month. That’ll be better than that wait I had over the summer for the current season. lol.
Happy Easter!!!
Easter
Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” Mt. 28:9-10
Good Friday
They took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb where no one had ever been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, as the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
John 19:40-42
Holy Thursday
When he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.” John 13:12-15
Long Week
Does this one seem longer than the last? Very weird. It seems like today should be Saturday.
So, this week is holy week; the culmination of the celebration of Lent. I gave up meat for Lent. I did fairly well, too, even if I do miss it. You can bet your booty that I’ll be out hunting chickens (headed to Rooster’s, a wings place) on Easter Sunday. lol.
I agree with mwshook, Palm Sunday is absolutely the most awesome Mass ever. The Passion of the Lord according to Matthew is totally the most wonderful structured communal gospel reading.
I feel very peaceful this week. Hopefully, it’s not the calm before the storm. The next few months at work will be hectic and busy.
In other news, I’ve switched to DSL. The big problem was that I didn’t have a phone jack in the study 😮 This house is strange; the only outlets are in the master bedroom and the living room. There isn’t even one in the kitchen. Anyhoo, countzero2k7 was going to help me to splice into my phone wiring to get a line down into the study–apparently, Bellsouth won’t come out to put a phone jack in if you don’t have phone service. Boooooo!! I’m getting Naked DSL, with absolutely no intention of getting a landline. Hopefully, all will go well with this splicing and it’ll be right as rain. I was just afraid of having to tear into the wall big-time, but I think it can be avoided here.
Arthur C. Clarke died this week 😐 He was 90, and one of my favorite SciFi authors. Rendezvous with Rama was an astoundingly good novel, one that I think I’ll have to read again–the last time I read it was senior year of high school. Ironically enough, as he died I was in the middle of reading 2001. So, I think I’ll have a bit of a Clarke binge and read Rendezvous, too.
Anyhoo, time to fly.
