So, the UN has passed a resolution to end the fighting in Lebanon. Ehud Olmert has accepted it, but the Israeli cabinet still must sign on.
I’ve been reading up on Hezbollah, and they’re a scary bunch.

So, yea.. this picture is pretty frightening…
Well, I definitely made a huge bunch of headway today with gettin’ rid of the boxes. The kitchen is nearly all unpacked. I think I still have a couple of miscellaneous boxes that have kitchen stuff in them, but I have all of the essentials unpacked.
It looks like I’m all good when it comes to curtains, too. Some friends gave me some before the move, so I’ll have enough for three bedrooms to replace the flowery ones that are there now (bleh).
I went to Publix this fine eve–the one that’s on this side of town, which I tend to like better than the other. It has the exact same selection as the other one, and I really don’t know why I like it better, but it seems to jive with me better *shrugs* Just one of those things.
So, I’m watching Cocoon: The Return. Courtney Cox must be frickin teen-something in this movie. Wowsers.
So, I am moved into the house! w00 h00! It took merely 6 hours or so of loading/unloading the U-Haul. The only big downer was when my computer desk wouldn’t fit through the doors; which ultimately took a gouge out of a wall and scratched a hella lot of paint on the doorframes, not to mention scratched the hell out of the cheapo Wal-Mart laminate that is the desk itself. Nothing that touch-up and spackle won’t fix. Other than that, it was all good. Now I just have to get into all the boxes and get them out of here *sigh*
So, my computers are now up and running. Actually, I’m waiting to hook up the desktop…well, until I have a desktop 🙂 That’ll more than likely be this weekend. For now, though, my laptop and my server are up on my LAN. And so, I post from a rather empty house.
The cable guy came by and got me up yesterday afternoon, and installed a cable outlet in a bedroom which surprisingly didn’t have an outlet. Oddly enough, the living room has 2 cable outlets. That certainly evened it all out.
I actually found some wood bookcases at Wal-Mart *GASP!!* I figured everything at Wal-Mart was rickety and laminate. How cool is that? Odd that they don’t have it online. They are certainly nice ones, though, and for much less than ones that I was eyeing at a local furniture store. Greater capacity, too.
Now, I just need to get some more stuff over to da house. And I need to cut the grass. It’s starting to look like the Veldt out there 😛
I’ve started moving into the new pad. Ruthie and I were moving boxes and the dining room table yesterday. It was hot. I hope it’s not so hot this coming weekend :\ That’s when we’re moving the big stuff. I might see if I can try to move some of the smaller big stuff this week, though (recliners, shelves, etc).
I’ve been lookin’ around for some bookcases, but hadn’t had much luck. All of the furniture stores had outrageous prices. At least I think $800 is a wee to much for two shelves–even if they are rather nice. Even Ashley Furniture had jack, which really surprised me. I may have found a local unfinished furniture store that might have some cool stuff, though. It’d be better than some laminate cases from Wal-Mart or Target.
Anyhoo, other than that, nothing much has been goin’ down. The Stargates have a really interesting plot that’s shaping up, centering around the Ori–although we haven’t really seen much of them since the season premiere. Since that and Robot Chicken are pretty much the only TV I watch on a consistent basis…ugh. I need to watch more. lol.
So, I am finally a homeowner. Closing went flawlessly. The buyer agent and I did our final final walkthrough this morning at 7:30. The house was completely empty, save for some shelving in the living room (for surround sound speakers, which I want anyway), and some shelving and hooks in the garage–which are definitely very much appreciated.
I was going to try to move a few boxes today with Ruthie and Weber, but the rain kept us just a wee bit away from that. We’ll probably try again tomorrow, although it looks like rain tomorrow, too *sigh* We did go around to Home Depot and Lowes to find a new deadbolt. The ones on the rest of the house are Yale, and we couldn’t find that brand there. Heck, maybe you don’t need the same brand of lock if you’re going to re-key. I don’t know.
Anyhoo, I be tired. I go to sleep now.
So, Ruthie and I go with the Realtor tonight to the house for the final walkthrough. The people haven’t even frickin’ moved out yet. It looks like things are packed in boxes, the furniture is mostly still out in their original places, but there’s a U-Haul truck out front. Basically, it looked like they had to load up the truck. But, damn. Closing is tomorrow morning at 9…or it’s supposed to be *fumes*
If they do clear out by tomorrow morning, they’re going to have to be working all night at it.
Tomorrow morning will therefore be the final final walkthrough at about 7:30. Closing is at 9. I am not a happy camper 😛
Two words…pillow pants…
