Ruthie and I just watched The Da Vinci Code. It was quite the intriguing story. It reminded me a bit of National Treasure in a few ways, namely how the story takes pieces of history and puts them together into one big nearly believable story. Those types of historical fiction are appealing to me more and more.

I could see where the much of the controversy lies, although Ruthie has said that there was much more in the book that went way beyond. I might read it one day. First, though, I need to see if I can power read through Eragon before the movie’s released 🙂 Anyhoo, I wouldn’t brand the author or anyone who watches it a heretic. It’s merely a movie, after all…a work of fiction. There are those who argue that for every work of fiction, there are facts intertwined. Certainly the case here but, in the context of the events of the story itself being fiction with the intertwining of various facts and theories, it just amounts to an intriguing story.

Nice weekend. Quite relaxful. Friday was full of some dinner at Logan’s and BSG. What’s up with BSG? It’s starting to look like a frickin’ teenie soap opera or something 😛 I know, it was nothing more than a filler episode, but damn. They can do better 😛 If I wanted to watch Adama’s Creek, with Lee and Kara frakking, I’d tune into the WB…or whatever the hell it is they call it nowadays 😛

Saturday was pretty cool, too. I helped Matt & rynnweber put up decorations, and then they helped put up some of my stuff. I don’t think I’m done yet…I put up some lights outside, but I think I need more. I’m going to get all Griswold on this neighborhood. Booyah. lol. I’ll put up some pics when I’m satisfied…probably next weekend 🙂

I found this really killer deal on a Projection LCD HDTV on Friday. The really weird part is that, after I bought the thing, it disappeared from the website. Mind you, this could mean that they sold out of the TV–or maybe they listed it at a price at which they didn’t really want to sell it. It looks like it’s a refurb. It’s one of these. With what I bought it for, I’ve been pondering selling it on eBay for a killer profit…but, it’s such a frickin’ cool TV. Maybe it was such a cool deal that it was too cool…maybe it was just a scam. Supposedly, it’ll be shipped here via freight, so the shipping company will get in touch with me sometime soon about when to deliver. This makes me nervous…not only have I not bought a TV online before, but also I haven’t had anything shipped to me via freight…has anyone had any experience with this?

And now, time for some sleepin’ type activities…

The Playstation 3 really is going for $4000+ (at least at the moment) on eBay. I put my own meager bid of the retail list price on one of the cheaper ones, and 2 seconds later I was outbid. I don’t know who I feel more sorry for, the sellers who won’t sell it for $10K, or the buyers who are getting screwed royally. I know, I know. Economics. They’ll sell at whatever price the market can bear. Still. What a buncha frickin’ idiots; it’s retail for me, or not at all. Hell, even the retail price is too expensive, IMHO 😛

Then again, just because someone wins a bid doesn’t mean they’ll pay it 😛

MS should lower the price on the 360 and make a ton; but, then there might be a supply issue just as there is for the PS3. lol.

Either way, I would think the smart buyer would be apt to wait 6-12 months, knowing the failure rate of the PS1 and PS2 when they came out. Well, those buyers who are actually buying the system to have, that is 😛

So, this weekend was pretty kewl. It just so happened to be a long one, which just so happened to be fine with me. Friday, Ruthie and I did a little shopping. Shocking, that I would subject myself to such craziness. But, it was all good 🙂 Ruthie got a cool lil santa on sale–let the Christmas decorating commence 🙂 We also went the next day, and I got some jeans and a nice shirt–rare is it that I get new jeans, but I definitely needed some new ones. Did a lil gaming at Matt & Rynn’s afterwards, had some very good (and hot) chili at Casa Blanca, and then we all geeked out at the Meachams’ for some Galactica goodness.

Very nice episode this week, me thinks. Baltar, as moronic as he is, might actually start making headway into the Cylon culture. He has a mastery of projection which is, more than likely, far in advance than that of the Cylons themselves. All we really saw of Caprica’s projection experience, though, was the woods she manifested last week.

Saturday was kinda clouy, rainy and meh, so Ruthie and I spent most of the day WoWing. We got our gnome mages up to 28 and 29, respectively. We’re just a hop, skip and a jump from having mechano-strider mounts (a.k.a. mechanical chickens). My priest is up to level 21, and a good lil way to 22 now.

And, so Sunday. Ahhh, a nice relaxing Sunday at the folks. My dad and I are going to a presentation on my alma-mater’s campus about the future of spaceflight, which should be quite interesting. It’s part of a series, and I’ve only been to one other. My parents’ router is very funky. OS X doesn’t seem to talk to it very well, and Windows doesn’t at all. I think they need a new one. All of the tweaking, resetting, and tweaking again have done nada 😛
